Australia’s remaining 3G mobile networks will close from 28 October, to boost the capacity, speed and reliability of the 4G and 5G mobile networks. 3G devices and many older 4G devices will be impacted.

If you receive a message from your mobile provider that you may be affected, you need to take action. Text ‘3’ to ‘3498’ to find out if your device could be impacted.

Although your mobile phone may look fine, you may be unable to make a triple zero call once the 3G networks are switched off. Customers who have concerns about the cost of upgrading should contact their service provider. Affordable options are available.

Other devices such as personal medical alarms, smart watches and security systems may also be impacted. Contact your service provider to confirm if your device will be affected.
